here comes summer... in the forest

We have watched in wonder the forest green up all around us over the last two months.
With the many, many firewood and sap runs though winter and spring, we have worn a nice circular path up through the woods to Old Joe, across a maple sapling grove, and down into the sugarbush between the creeks. On rainy days, the creek flows fast and is lots of fun to walk up and rebuild the dams. the children's favorite spot to picnic is beside Old Joe. During a recent storm the remaining trunk of old Joe(seen still standing on the right in the picture below) crashed down across our path, taking a few smaller trees with it: thus NEW JOE was born!!
